Taryn Criswell Minter was born and raised in Plainview, Texas. After graduating from Plainview High School, she attended Texas A&M University (Gig Em!) where she majored in English Literature in 2005. From there she moved to Houston where she attended South Texas College of Law.
Taryn was licensed to practice law in November 2008. In January 2009, she began as an Associate Attorney with Stephen D. Jackson & Associates in Conroe, Texas. At this firm she practiced exclusively family law in Montgomery, Harris and surrounding counties.
In 2016, Taryn and her family decided to move back to the panhandle. On January 2, 2017, she opened Taryn Minter Law. Since opening her own firm, she has continued specializing in Family Law, as well as offering services in criminal defense, probate, guardianships and estate planning matters.
Along with running her private practice full-time, in January 2024, Taryn accepted and began a part-time position with the 110th Judicial District as the Assistant District Attorney which serves Floyd, Briscoe, Motley and Dickens counties. She is also the County Attorney for Briscoe County.
Taryn is married to Chad Minter, who is an insurance agent with Rollo Insurance. They reside in Aiken and they have two daughters, Delaney (13 years old) and Ainsley (11 years old) who love to play volleyball. Taryn is an avid reader and enjoys spending time outdoors.
Taryn is an experienced attorney running for 110th District Judge. With years of courtroom experience and a deep commitment to justice, she has built a reputation for fairness, integrity, and respect for the law.
Over the course of her legal career, she has practiced in many areas of law, including criminal (both defense and prosecution), civil, family, and juvenile matters. This wide-ranging experience has given her a deep understanding of the challenges facing individuals and families in the courtroom. Taryn is committed to serving Floyd, Briscoe, Motley and Dickens Counties with fairness, integrity and sound judgment.
